Domestic Violence Intervention Academy (DVIA) provides a state-approved, 26-week Domestic Violence Intervention Program for adults in Guilford County, North Carolina, who have used abusive or controlling behavior in an intimate relationship.

 

This accountability and education program is not anger-management counseling, couples counseling, or a substitute for victim services.

Classes meet once weekly for 90 minutes (39 hours total), 6:00–7:30 p.m. Men and women attend separate group days . Groups have up to 16 participants, with two facilitators when enrollment exceeds eight.

 

Classes are offered in person and live through Zoom. Virtual participants must stay visible on camera, use a working microphone and reliable internet, and attend from a private location. Class day, location or Zoom access, and start date are confirmed after intake and space review.

Enrollment includes referral information, registration, an initial assessment, placement, and payment instructions.

 

Assessments also occur on the 13 and 26 week. Completion requires all 26 weeks, includes required assessments, attendance, active participation, compliance with group rules, and all financial requirements. Three absences may result in incomplete status and require a restart.

With signed authorization, DVIA may report enrollment, attendance, compliance, and completion information to courts, probation officers, attorneys, or referring agencies. Completion documentation is issued only when all requirements are met.
